The Doorways of your Diet ~ transform your life by understanding the challenges of how you eat

Linking food with comfort, safety, and love is the first conditioning the human brain receives: The newborn is held by their mother, feels her warmth, hears her heartbeat, smells her skin, and knows safety and love.
That is why comfort food is such a big thing ~ it links us back to those early impressions, fires up the neural connections in the brain. When we feel unhappy, unsafe, scared, we eat, and our brains know food for comfort.
But diet is more than that; breaking those early chains isn't the only challenge we face. Especially when making fundamental changes in how and what we eat ~ like going vegan.
So while the courgette-and-carrot bake is in the oven, and the beetroot for the experimental pasta sauce (or maybe soup?) is happily bubbling away, I'd like to take the time to look at and contemplate a less pleasant aspect – also known as a “doorway” – of diet. Any diet, yours and mine.

You see, as much as I enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes, the Ascension Kitchen is not meant to be just another vegan catering or a foodie blog. Yes, healthy and plant-based diet is a passion, one that I love to share with others.
But I am also interested in the shadows that hide in our diet. And I don't necessarily mean the junk food, or the small sins or indulgences ~ I'm talking about the challenges around any diet, but particularly a plant-based one. The obstacles, the derailments, the times we “fall off the wagon”. That one junk food we can't let go of, no matter how hard we try.
Because these are all reflections. Every obstacle, every challenge tells you something about your consciousness. So they are all doorways into a deeper understanding of Self ~ to unravelling more, possibly, probably, even karma.
And so, instead of taking the easy way out today and share another recipe, I'd like to invite you to share your challenges when it comes to a plant-based diet. Because as the brave handful of participants of the first Ascension Kitchen workshop reflected to me: there are many, and they are varied.
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to a plant-based diet?
You would like to go vegan, but your body is not happy with legumes and so you wonder where to get your protein from?
The cheese-addiction has you in its grip still?
You're new to this whole plant-based thing and don't know how to cook now?
Or do you have a whole bunch of vegan recipes you have been meaning to try, but they're all a bit complex and you have neither time nor energy, and so end up not using them after all?
Struggle to balance plant-based food with high-energy work?
Dense (work) environments make you binge eat?
Something else entirely? What is your challenge?
And what might you have manifested it?
I'll even go first!
My biggest challenge, at this time, is binge-eating aka not being able to control the reptilian when I eat after 6pm.
That happens at least twice per week, on the days I work full days at university. It's two days, nine to five, and part of the challenge is the perceived need to eat dinner on these days.
It has been interesting to watch ~ I'm feeling okay(ish), but the moment I leave my office, or the campus at the latest, I get whammied with the craving for food. Not hungry beforehand, but I stop to wait at the first traffic light: FOOD!
Yup, dense environment, it's tough, after eight hours plus two more for commute there and back again, everything is So Much, I need food to dampen things down.
Also fascinating to watch ~ the part that goes into an absolute tailspin of panic when, as I leave the campus and the craving hits, I contemplate maybe not eating dinner today. Like, I am not feeling particularly hungry, so maybe just a cup of tea tonight?
Instant panic.
But that isn't actually the real challenge. I am watching what is happening there, letting things play out, because honestly? Am not ready yet to push things.
The real challenge when having dinner after a full day of work? Is that I won't stop eating.
I get home, get changed, make myself dinner, eat dinner, and when I take the dishes back to the kitchen, it's like: “Okay, that was nice. I feel sated. … What do I eat now?”
And so it goes: nuts of all kinds, candied ginger, corn or lentil cakes with veggie spread Toskana-style … Nothing “unhealthy”, no “junk food”. Just lots of it. Way beyond hunger, sometimes even beyond the line where “full” becomes “discomfort”.
Just the reptilian running absolutely wild. Uncontrollable, more often than not.
And it is not simply caused by the density of the work environment, either, though that makes it worse, makes it uncontrollable ~ if I eat too late, this will happen. 6pm is the latest for me to eat without things spiralling.
Haven't yet figured out the connection between time of day and ravenous reptilian consuming everything in its path. But it's certainly a challenge.
Why I manifested it? Well, there is still the untamed ~ un-rea-ligned ~ reptilian energy in my field that needs to be worked with. It is part of the human condition, but in my case ~ or rather, in case of the soul ~ this goes back further, to earliest incarnations, of the Pleiadian star soul struggling with 3D and the reptilians already on this planet.
It is, to me, a question, and an invitation: How can I be with this? How can I work with the reptilian and help it realign, help it remember who is truly is, and become the dragon once more?
It is the question and invitation: How can I be in this 3D world in a more aligned way? Instead of dampening down the agitation inside ~ is there a different way to be with it? Can I become okay with it there, without needing it to change or go away?
It feels like a long road still to go, yet probably is far shorter than mind can imagine right now. It only takes persistence, and resilience, and courage ~ those beautiful dragon qualities. And behind that? The curiousity of the Pleiadian.
So I'd say, my reptilian and I, we are already off to a good start ...
And now the timer for the beetroot is going off, so I'm off to the next Beetroot Adventure ~ leaving you with this invitation.
What is your challenge at this time?
And what might it tell you about the configuration of your consciousness?
